Everything is bigger, and better in Texas....At least the Texans think so! :)
After a year of missing our dear friends, the Freemans. We decided for the last week of summer vacation we would take a road trip to Dallas, TX. On the way, we stopped over night in Little Rock (after 8 hours in the car)and stay the night. We went and ate dinner on the riverfront, and saw the Clinton presidential library. However, on the way to LR, AR the kids thought it was totally cool that we drove all the way across TN, and the mighty Mississippi River. The next day our ride was a little shorter, 5 hours, to Aubrey, TX. We spent a week with the Freeman family, and it was full of fun. We had no problem picking right back up as if we all still lived in Wake Forest. During our visit, we went to church on Sunday (which was very friendly), ate some TX beef brisket and ribs, swimming at their neighborhood pool, Dallas to see the Reunion Tower (which was rented out for a wedding), a really cool castle playground with tunnels leading to different parts, the playground in the neighborhood, Fort Worth to a Longhorn Cattle drive complete with cowboys, the FIRST Dr. Pepper bottling plant, swimming at their friend's neighborhood pool, movies, mall, the pool on theother side of the neighborhood, ate Mexican food, and chowed down on Shannon's yummy cooking. We decided to drive straight back on the way home, and the kids were so tired they just vegged out and watched movies. We saw 2 really bad wrecks on the way home, and a lot of flat roads. We had such a good time, and are really missing our friends now! TX was as hot as we expected, but with no humidity, it actually was more miserable when we got home to our sticky hot weather. So for now, we are already trying to plan our next rendevous to see them.
