Spring Break 2007
This year for the kids' spring break, we went to sunny Florida. We decided to branch out and skip Disney. We went to Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Legoland, Downtown Disney, and of course visited some friends while in town. The kids were very good all week, and we all had a blast. We first went to Universal Studios. Gretchen quickly learned that if she was too scared to ride she could use the, "I have to go potty really bad!" sentence to get out of line. We only fell for it about 3 times. Luckily, none of the lines were too long, and we got to ride about half of the rides. We ended up liking it so much we went back a second time later in the week. My personal favorite was the Shrek 4D. I think the boys loved, Jaws, of course not Gretchen. she was not crying because of the shark, she was crying because when Jaws blew up she got sprayed with water, and "My hair is all wet!!" Richard liked Back to the Future, it is his favorite movie after all. We also got to see a Fear Factor show, very cool. We took it easy the next day and went to Downtown Disney to the mega disney store, which has a Princess Boutique, where they do princess makeovers. We kept Gretchen far away, especially since she picked out a Jasmine costume that was $150. The boys thought they had died and gone to heaven when they saw the Lego Land Store. They decided to get a bucket of legos where you can fill it with the pieces you want, of course they picked the "rarest" pieces. We also took the kids to Goofy's candy shop while there, and had chocolate covered marshmellows, and tons of candy. The next day we went to Islands of Adventure, which is all super heroes, and Cartoon Town. Richard loved the Hulk coaster and the Dueling Dragons coaster. Gretchen preferred to spend her time in Seussville, and the boys liked Jurassic Park. We did decided after $40 for hot dogs at universal that we would just eat at one of the restuarants for real food, and not much more money. So, we ate the #1 theme park restaurant for the past 6 years. It was in this huge mountain, and inside looked like we were in a under water cave, called Mythos. It was yummy, and a great choice. While in Orlando, we go to see Frank and Suzie,(Shalene's parents) and the Kelly's (who were work friends that used to live in TN). We had a great time, pretty relaxing even with theme parks and kids. We look forward to our next adventure!
